FAQs
What is the cost of NoCo Tri Sports Youth Camp?
The cost of camp is $150 per participant.
What should my child bring to camp?
Goggles, swimsuit, towel, bike, helmet, athletic shorts, t-shirt, athletic shoes, socks, water bottle, sunscreen, and any personal snacks.
What if my child only has a mountain or hybrid bike?
Great, that will work perfectly for our camp! We will be utilizing the concrete bike path at Boyd Lake for instruction, and the skills learned during camp are applicable to any bike. We will teach children how to ride safely in a public environment and educate them on the technical aspects of cycling, such as turning, passing others, and pacing on the bike. Finally, we will teach children about the bike's various parts and introduce them to maintaining their bike.
What are the requirements for camp?
Your child should be able to:
Swim 25 yards freestyle without assistance
Bike 3 miles without stopping
Run 1 mile without stopping
What about specific triathlon equipment?
Wetsuits, triathlon race suits, triathlon/road bikes, bike-specific shoes, etc are welcome. However, this gear is not necessary to participate in camp.
If your child does have a competitive swimsuit, this will work best for all three sports and minimize time spent changing clothing.
My child’s bike is not very nice. Is that okay?
We ask that you send your child to camp with a functional bike. Any bike will do, but it should be able to brake, shift gears, and have pumped-up tubes/tires. NoCo Tri Sports can help with minor issues at camp, but we want to spend our time with your children teaching about the sport, not fixing bikes that aren’t working. Any minor issues that occur at camp can be solved and will be a learning experience for the children. If you have questions about your child's bike, please reach out before camp; we can help!
How old does my child need to be?
Children aged 8-14 are welcome to join NoCo Tri Sports Youth Camp. This age range will enhance the overall camp experience for all participants. If you have any questions, please reach out!
What if my child is not the best swimmer?
We can help! Your child does not need to be the strongest swimmer at the pool to be successful and enjoy the swim in a triathlon. Triathlon swims require new techniques that swim team children may lack. We ask that you only send your child to camp if they are pool-safe. This means you trust your child's swimming ability to not be within arms reach of them at the pool at all times. If they are pool-safe, they will be a great candidate for camp. We will swim in shallow waters close to shore where children can touch. In addition, staff will be on paddle boards and in the water for safety.
Do I need a Boyd Lake State Park pass?
No, you will not need a parking pass. We will supply you with a NoCo Tri Sports Youth Camp Park Pass. Parents will use their passes to drop off and pick up their children on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Parents should purchase a day pass to stay in the park. Parents will be allowed to stay in the park on Friday to watch our practice race and enjoy the end-of-camp celebration.
What is the refund policy for Noco Tri Sports Youth Camp?
